There is a Difference Between Being Self-Confidence and Being Self-Centered

Roman 12:2-3

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.  (KJV)

Today, I learned a valuable lesson.  People sometimes mistake Self-Confidence for Self-Center.

We have defined ourselves with all these titles and accolades to make our lives “appear” to be wonderful, when in all essence, we don’t have enough of a resume to fulfill these titles we want to hold. With that being said, we end up confusing Self-Confidence with Self-Center.

Being Self-Centered stems from our ego; causing us to be stuck in our own world never growing or evolving.  We spend countless amounts of time telling people how good we are while taking no one else in account accept ourselves–believing we are higher than everyone else for no obvious reason.

Confidence is a strategical and crucial key in our lives that unlock and open many doors to our destiny–while being considerate and careful not to tread on the rights of others, true Self-Confidence stems from within; a truer, quiet and soothing place, evoking feelings of love and security in one self and in others also.

So, I say, a lesson well learned today.  My Self-Confidence should shine so bright that it brings out the best in others; encouraging growth.  This lesson has made me more aware and always check my “ego” at the door.  There is no room in the Ministry that God has call us into for our Egos and God.
